Does Xanax interact with Viagra?

The Viagra leaflet names the medicines to be careful with — nitrates, some antifungal medicines and antibiotics, HIV medicines, alpha-blockers and bosentan among them — and alprazolam is not one of them (Viagra CMI). The alprazolam leaflet does not name an erectile dysfunction medicine either (alprazolam CMI). "Not listed" is not the same as "tested", which is why the prescriber should know about both. Which side effects can add up?
Dizziness and light-headedness. Alprazolam "may cause drowsiness, dizziness or light headedness in some people" (alprazolam CMI), and dizziness is among sildenafil's possible side effects (healthdirect). If you take both, stand up slowly, and do not drive or operate machinery until you know how they affect you.
Can you drink alcohol with Xanax and Viagra?
Better not. Combining alprazolam with alcohol "can make you more sleepy, dizzy or lightheaded" (alprazolam CMI), and the Viagra leaflet says not to drink large amounts of alcohol before sex because it can impair the ability to get an erection (Viagra CMI).
Can Xanax affect erections?
The alprazolam leaflet lists "changes in sex drive" among its side effects, and anxiety itself can cause erection problems. If things change after starting alprazolam, talk to your doctor rather than stopping it — the leaflet also warns that benzodiazepines "may lead to dependence".
What must never be taken with Viagra?
