That it is a prescription medicine in every form sold there. AIFA's database lists Viagra as 25, 50 and 100 mg film-coated tablets and 50 mg orodispersible tablets, and each pack carries the same entry under "Regime di Fornitura" (the conditions of supply): "RR", "Soggetto a Prescrizione Medica".
Is generic sildenafil sold without a prescription in Italy?
No. We searched AIFA's database for sildenafil on 27 September 2026: all 560 packs it listed are in a prescription category. Most (530) are "RR — Soggetto a Prescrizione Medica"; the other 30 carry stricter prescription labels — "Soggetto a Prescrizione Medica Limitativa" (RRL), "Medicinali soggetti a prescrizione medica da rinnovare" (RNR) or "Medicinale soggetto a prescrizione medica limitativa" (OSP). What is the rule in Australia?
The same. In Australia you need a prescription for every erectile dysfunction medicine, and a doctor assesses you first (healthdirect). The TGA puts it plainly: tadalafil, sildenafil and dapoxetine "can only be supplied to Australians with a prescription" (TGA). Viagra itself is on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods as 25, 50 and 100 mg tablets (ARTG). healthdirect also warns: "Some people buy sildenafil online without a prescription. This isn't a good idea, as you can't be sure whether these pills contain the medicine or are counterfeit" (healthdirect — Sildenafil (Viagra)).
