How does Viagra work?

Viagra is a PDE5 inhibitor, meaning it works by blocking the action of cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 on cyclic GMP in the smooth muscle cells in the penis.Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, works by dilating blood vessels and increasing the blood flow to the penis, helping to promote stronger longer-lasting erections.Viagra is a medication for erectile dysfunction while Revatio is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Viagra and heart disease

Heart failure is a complex disease that involves too much fluid, poor oxygenation of the lungs, and a heart rate that is too slow for the body to get enough blood. Heart disease is also known as myocardial infarction, angina, and coronary artery disease. Heart failure happens when your heart muscle contract (called angina) and cannot circulate the right ventricle (the yellow heart muscle), causing inadequate pumping of blood through the ventricle. If Viagra is taken with certain other medications for cardiovascular problems doctor supervision is required.

Could Viagra cause hearing or vision loss?

Sildenafil can decrease the level of blood flow in the eye to thicken and dilate, this could cause a vision problem. While people with normal hearing may experience such symptoms, those users with chronic hearing loss may experience them more frequently.Sudden hearing loss is the most serious side effect of PDE5 inhibitors.
